Vmware vSphere 6.5 release became a release of hope to VMware administrators and a bigger challenge to third party software providers like backup software vendors. This release has few feature enhancements related to VMware vSphere environment management/monitoring and also data protection features like virtual machine encryption and encrypted vMotion. When a VM data is getting encrypted, then it’s an alert for the backup software vendor, as it takes a lot more effort to backup and restore the data as it is without corruption. Our customers did expected early announcement support for VMware version 6.5 as we did for VMware vSphere 6.0(First to announce support).
We took a set back to make sure that the newly introduced features are fully handled and is not affecting the previous backup process and also not causing any data corruption after series of incremental chain. As we could see that some of the competitors released early support for vSphere 6.5 version with out support for encrypted VM backup or with first cut support for encryption virtual machine backup support resulting in lot more data corruption and cbt track issue that could have been avoided if the whole deployment scenario is analyzed and handled before release. Specifically for VMware vSphere 6.5 backup support, we extend our test lab capability by providing private beta builds to renowned VMware experts and it has been certified as best suitable VM backup software for the VMware vSphere 6.5 environment considering diverse deployment possibilities. With this, we are happy to announce that Vembu VMBackup release candidate (RC) build for VMware vSphere 6.5 environment is available for customer evaluation.
