How Live VM Migration Works

Step 1: Instant Boot Recovery

When a production physical or virtual machine crashes, instantly boot the backup using Instant Boot VM Recovery. BDRShield Backup Server creates an NFS mount to the ESXi host and boots from backup data in the storage repository.
Step 2: Live Migration

Perform live migration to permanently move backup data from the backup storage repository to a production ESXi Server datastore. Migration runs in the background while the VM remains operational.
Step 3: Seamless Transition

All modifications made during the instant boot session are automatically carried over during live migration. Your VM transitions from temporary backup storage to permanent production storage without interruption.
