Microsoft Hyper-V virtual machine disk formats. VHDX offers enhanced performance, larger storage capacity, and better corruption protection than the legacy VHD format.

VMDK & Flat-VMDK

VMware virtual machine disk formats compatible with VMware Workstation, vSphere, and ESXi. Flat-VMDK stores disk data in a single file for easy portability between systems.

RAW

Universal raw disk format that stores data without additional file system information. Ideal for maximum compatibility and direct disk-level access.

How to Download VMs & Disks

Simple 5-step process to download your backup data in any format
Step 1: Navigate to Recovery

In BDRShield Backup Server, go to Recovery → Restore Backup Data to view all configured backup jobs.
Step 2: Select Backup Job

Click the Restore button on your desired backup job to access recovery options.
Step 3: Choose Download Option

Select “Download VMs & Disks” from the available recovery methods.
Step 4: Select Version & Disk

Choose your restore version, then select the specific backup disk you want to download.
Step 5: Download & Restore

Pick your preferred format (VHD, VHDX, VMDK, Flat-VMDK, or RAW), select the download location, and initiate the restore process.
