Vembu’s MSSQL Granular Recovery utility provides an ability to instantly restore the MSSQL database objects such as the tables, schemas, views and stored procedures from disk image and VMware backed up data that contains MSSQL database raw data (*.mdf & *ldf files). Also, it provides different recovery options such as restoring the objects as a sql file or a xls file.

With this utility, the objects of a database of all SQL versions can be exported as sql file or xls file which then be attached with any other database or the same database in MSSQL server. Also, it provides an option to restore the database data directly to SQL server.

Prerequisite:

The following components must be installed on the machine where you want to perform SQL granular recovery:

  • MSSQL Server 2014.
  • .Net framework 4.
  • Microsoft Excel 2010 (for xls file format recovery).

Steps to perform SQL Granular Recovery:

  • Download MSSQL object level recovery exe.
  • Attach the disk image or VMware backed up data to disk management using mount option in the server machine where you have deployed the VembuBDR Server.
  • After attaching the data, copy the sql database raw data (*mdf & *.ldf files) to the machine where you want to run SQL recovery exe.
  • Load the mdf and ldf files into SQL granular recovery utility and select the recovery option (whether sql file or xls file format or direct restore to sql server).
  • Select the objects that you want to restore in list of objects wizard.
  • Enter the target location and click “submit” to complete the recovery process.
