With Vembu BDR 2.1, scheduled image backups will be more stable. This is assured not only with the improved backup method but also cross verified with Vembu’s 4-Step backup verification process. The backup verification steps help keep the state of backup recoverable and avoid the risk of corrupted data.

The 4-tier Image Backup verification process includes:

  • Integrity Check.
  • Mount Check.
  • Check Disk.
  • Boot Check.

Integrity Check:

Integrity Check is done periodically once a backup process completes. During this process, backed up data will be compared to the original content for data errors. This way, we can make sure that the backup data and original data is the same.

Sometimes, the backed up data will have errors due to various reasons and in such cases, an immediate schedule of additional full backup or running a check disk will be helpful in overcoming the issue.

Mount Check:

In Mount Check process, the backed up data will be virtually mounted periodically and make sure that the backup data are mount compatible/ Non corrupted. Mount Check will be helpful at times of disaster recovery, where instant mounting of backup data plays an important part.

Check Disk:

Check Disk process is defined as running command line execution of chkdsk command for the backup data and make sure that the data is error free. If there is any error log found, then /f command will help in fixing the errors. In rare scenarios, there will be errors in backed up data due to bandwidth disruptions and in such cases, running additional backup will be helpful to keep constant backup data.

Boot Check:

The Boot Check process:

  • Starts each time when a backup process completes.
  • Instantly boots backup data in a Hyper-V machine.
  • Takes a screenshot of the startup page.
  • Displays screenshot with appropriate error message if and when backup data is corrupted.
  • Displays startup screen if the data is error free to indicate successful boot check.

The backup verification process works in a way that helps provide a solid business continuum plan for users.
